1. Solid-State Batteries: Chinese Scientists Make Significant Progress in Polymer Electrolyte Field
According to media reports, a research team led by Professor Zhang Qiang from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University has achieved important progress in the study of polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. This breakthrough provides new ideas and technical support for the development of practical solid-state lithium-ion batteries with high safety and high energy density. The relevant results have been published online in Nature.
A research report by CSC Financial Co., Ltd. points out that as a next-generation high-performance battery technology, solid-state batteries—boasting distinct advantages such as high energy density and high safety—are accelerating their transition from laboratory research to industrialization. Driven by the release of policy dividends, the upgrading of market demand, and continuous technological iteration, the global solid-state battery industry has entered a critical stage, moving from laboratory R&D to commercial implementation. China has rolled out strong policy support in the solid-state battery field; with the gradual improvement of the industry’s technical standard system, small-batch production of all-solid-state batteries is expected to be realized around 2027.
Listed Companies on the A-Share Market
E-Chem Group: The company’s cobalt lithium oxide and lithium-rich manganese-based cathode materials dedicated to all-solid-state batteries have successfully secured partnerships with top domestic automakers and battery clients, including BYD, FAW Group, and CAS Guoneng.
Great Power Energy: The company has continued to iterate and optimize its solid-state battery technology, with the energy density of its solid-state batteries increased from 280 Wh/kg to 320 Wh/kg.
2. Energy Storage: Energy Storage Cells See Explosive Demand, Orders Scheduled Through Next Year
Reports indicate that at an energy storage equipment manufacturing enterprise in Beijing, the entire production line is currently operating at full capacity to produce battery cells—a key component of energy storage systems. A single such cell can store approximately 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity. Driven by the booming energy storage market, these cells are currently in short supply. An enterprise leader revealed, “Since the second quarter, we have been operating at full production and full sales. On one hand, overseas demand is experiencing explosive growth, leading to a short-term shortage of high-quality production capacity; on the other hand, the capacity of battery cells is transitioning from 314 Ah to 500 Ah and 600 Ah. When production lines for these large-capacity cells are gradually put into mass production next year, this shortage will be alleviated.”
The New Energy Team of Huaxi Securities notes that the energy storage cell market has gradually emerged from the downward trend of the past three years, showing a rebound after hitting bottom. On one hand, the reform of the electricity market has driven the release of domestic independent energy storage demand, and the high scale of the bidding market reflects strong industry demand. On the other hand, independent energy storage projects place higher demands on the efficiency, lifespan, and reliability of energy storage products; coupled with the bottoming-out and recovery of upstream cell prices, the price of energy storage products is expected to stabilize and pick up.
