Malaysian News--KUANTAN: Police have submitted the investigation papers on a primary school teacher in Pekan, accused of molesting and sexually assaulting a male pupil, to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the papers were handed over to the DPP's office earlier today.
"Police have completed their investigations after recording statements from several witnesses in connection with the alleged incident. We are now awaiting further instructions from the prosecution. Should the papers need updating, we will comply accordingly," he told reporters during a visit to observe the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) initiative at a petrol station along Jalan Bukit Ubi today.
Yahaya also urged the public not to speculate or make unfounded allegations regarding the case, and to allow the authorities to conduct their investigations.
The 45-year-old male suspect was arrested on Sept 13 after an 11-year-old pupil accused him of molestation and sexual assault during a cultural performance trip in Pekan. He was released on police bail on Sept 20.
The case is being investigated for sexual assault and inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency.
