GEORGE TOWN: Penang Pas has expressed its full support for Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia's (Gerakan) decision to contest under its own party logo in the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).
Penang Pas information chief Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan said the choice to use a party's own logo was a strategic right for any political party.
"We acknowledge Gerakan's intention to assert its identity, both in Penang and nationwide, and we respect the confidence they have shown in doing so.
"We view this move as a sign of political maturity within the opposition bloc, reflecting a shared commitment to diversity and strategic collaboration for the benefit of the people.
"While maintaining unity and a common direction within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, this decision demonstrates flexibility and strength in embracing different approaches that have proven effective in previous elections," he said in a statement.
Penang Pas made the remarks in response to a news report on Sept 28 that Gerakan intended to contest under its own logo in GE16.
Despite the use of different logos, Fawwaz said that the coalition remained united in its mission to improve the lives of Malaysians through good governance, justice, and social harmony, while rejecting divisive politics.
He reiterated Penang Pas' commitment to continue working closely with Gerakan and other PN component parties to harness collective energy and ideas in realising the aspirations of the people of Penang and beyond.
