A Russian man was caught having sexual intercourse with a woman on a moving pickup truck in Phuket, Thailand, and was arrested by Thai police.
The Bangkok Post reported that the arrested man, aged 23, whose name has only been confirmed as Georgii, was arrested on Thursday (September 25th) at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok while attempting to leave Thailand.
A 15 second video that went viral on Thai social media platforms on the evening of September 24th showed a naked man and woman engaging in sexual activity at the rear of a black pickup truck, which was driving on a road in Phuket at the time.
Thai police say it is generally believed that Georgi is the man in the video.
The woman in the video was later confirmed to be a 42 year old Thai woman working in Phuket. She said someone paid her 1000 Thai baht (about 40 Singapore dollars) to shoot this video and told her that it was for Georgi's Russian audience.
Thai police have identified Georgi as an adult content creator who frequently posts indecent videos on social media platforms.
A driver recorded Georgi's indecent behavior on the road in Phuket, which caused public outrage online.
A Thai netizen angrily wrote, "Immediately arrest two people and deport them. They should be permanently blacklisted." Another person said, "My only concern is the young people who witnessed all of this. They should be severely punished, not just fined
Phuket Tourism Police Chief Guan Yi Kachai said that Georgi is facing charges of public indecency, and if he has posted the video online for profit, he can also be prosecuted under the Computer Crime Act.
Phuket Police Chief Chari suggested that the immigration department at least revoke Georgi's visa and prohibit him from entering Thailand again. Charlie said that the maximum fine for committing indecent acts in public places is 5000 Thai baht.
This is not the first time that Thailand has discovered someone engaging in sexual activity in public places. Last year, a similar incident occurred where two tourists were caught having sexual intercourse on a "family friendly" beach in Pattaya. But the incident that occurred in Phuket on September 24th sparked strong protests from local residents and demanded that the government take strict measures.
