The Israeli interception and detention of the "Global Resilience Fleet" transporting aid to Gaza has sparked strong anti American sentiment in Malaysia. (Kuala Lumpur News) 23 volunteers of the "Global Resilience Fleet" detained by Israel in Malaysia have been released and are expected to return to Malaysia within one or two days.
On Saturday (October 4), Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar said in the live broadcast on Facebook that he contacted Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the day before and the other side agreed to assist Malaysian citizens in withdrawing from Israel.
Anhua said: "I have received a message from Türkiye's National Security Director Ibrahim that the Turkish government will help... 23 Malaysians have left for Lamont Airport in southern Israel to fly to Türkiye by special plane. They will stay in Istanbul for about a day and a half for physical examination and psychological assessment, and are expected to return tomorrow or the day after tomorrow."
The Global Resilience Fleet, consisting of volunteers from 57 countries, began transporting relief supplies to Gaza via the Mediterranean Sea at the end of August. However, it was recently intercepted by the Israeli military and more than 400 people were detained, including 23 Malaysians.
Anwar Ibrahim pointed out in the live broadcast that Malaysia supports the Gaza peace plan proposed by the United States, provided that the independence and autonomy of the Palestinian people are guaranteed.
He said that Malaysia is not only considering Hamas' own decisions, but also the positions of neighboring Arab and Islamic countries. The details of the plan still need to be improved to ensure that Hamas, neighboring Arab countries, and other Islamic countries can reach a consensus
